How to replace MB Magsafe cord on AC Adapter

Does anyone know how to open the AC adapter for a 13" Macbook, in order to replace the Magsafe cord? The cat has chewed up the cord. I have purchased a completely new AC adapter as a replacement.

I noticed that you can buy the replacement Magsafe cord on eBay (Apple P/N #: MA357LL/A 661-3994) to replace on to the adapter, but I do not see how the adapter can be opened up. Looks like it's two pieces of plastic glued together. If I could figure this out, I can get this adapter working again.

Thanks

Do you have the long cord attached to the adapter that plugs into the wall? If so, it just pulls right off. Just use some force. (Pull it up and away from the adapter. It's not glued on.)

I am talking about the Magsafe cord that plugs into the Macbook at one end and is hard wired into the AC adapter at the other end. I know how to remove the power cord that goes into the wall.

I want to know how to "split open" the white AC adapter so I can replace the hard wired Magsafe cord. Nothing to do with the 120V power cord.

The "thin" Magsafe cord is available on eBay.

You don't. The MagSafe adapter doesn't come apart. Why do you want to replace that one cable if you've already purchased a replacement AC adapter?

1) I would like to have a second AC adapter - hence my desire to repair the original

2) My original is fine, EXCEPT the cord between the laptop and the adapter is broken. Replacements can be bought on eBay (Apple P/N #: MA357LL/A 661-3994)

3) I am trying to find out if anyone knows how to open the AC adapter itself. Since they sell the replacement Magsafe cable, I assumed the adapter can be opened up, and was hoping someone may know how. I would prefer to do this, rarher than cut the wire and splice it back together.

Thanks

You know what? Don't screw around with this. Unless you're an electrical engineer--which I doubt, or you wouldn't be asking this. If you screw up, it could be fatal.

I am an engineer............................by the way.

I don't think replacing two wire would be fatal. I have done electric and electronic work before. I was simply asking if anyone knew how to open the AC adapter.

If they sell replacement cables, obviously they are capable of being repaired.

Fair enough. In that case, knock yourself out--figuratively speaking. Perhaps you can find a different unit on eBay for way less that has some other part damaged but the wires you need intact. This may take some time to find, of course.

Dude think you got had you cant open it without destroying it it's all glued up. You can find loads of false parts on ebay I think one of the manufacturing company just sell the parts knowing you can change it happens alot and that parts number is a fake. You can find unreplacable parts for iPhones to ppl should check how to repair before bidding, Also if theres a way to use the part often the lister wil post a link to how to repair it. Tuff luck just put it back on ebay.
