This question is probably an old one, but I couldn't find it in the FAQs.
When buying a new mac, is there a way to easily recreate everything from the old mac to the new mac? I know you can't just drag and drop. What is the procedure?

ok, sounds simple. Things have changed. I remember destroying many of my files when I switched to OS X and thought I could just drag them over. If I have trouble I will be on here again.

Guess my question would be how old is the old mac?
One other way is to just write a CD or DVD with the files, you got your files and a backup all in one....
Personally I find FW disk mode sloooooow but then it could be macs that are too old....

I seem to be the official family setup guru, and I've probably used the FW/target disk on 20 computers. It works like a charm. My only advice is do it right away. If you wait until after you've set up your new machine and got stuff going on it, you might run into some problems.
