Question Ram

Hello,
Got a friend who has Mac Mini PPC 1.42GHz and would like to put in a 1 Gig of ram it has 512 and install leopard on it, anyone have this setup and how does it run??

Where is a good place get Ram for this computer??? Think I can take this apart my self, got this site, " Macworld | Editors' Notes | The Mac mini: Inside and Out "

Look at the specs in my signature.

Leopard running fine on my system. (But as always, a PPC Mac mini isn't built for highly intensive processes, regardless of how 'maxed' out it is.)

Remember that the Mac mini has only a single RAM slot, so the 512 MB DIMM would have to come out and be replaced with a single 1GB DIMM for a total maximum of 1GB of RAM.

Hey thanks Lars, yea I know about the ram just 1 Gig slot, Did you ever run it with 512 MB of Ram?????

No, and personally, I believe Leopard would perform quite poorly with only 512 MB of RAM, despite only requiring a minimum of 512 MB of RAM. Just 1GB is barely cutting it for Leopard. I'm usually using up 700-800 MB of RAM under basic usage, so I can't imagine running Leopard on a measly 512 MB...
