How do I create my own widget with Safari 3 and Leopard?
I have been trying unsuccessfully to create my own widgets by "cutting" pieces of webpages using safari I just don't know how to get them to my desktop?
I found this website but the instructions don't work for me
Well if you want people to help you, why not start by being more helpful yourself? The instructions are very straightforward, so maybe if you describe where you get stuck, or what's happening, that might help us help you.
Also, you mention getting the widget on your desktop, dashboard widgets exist in your dashboard, not your desktop. Did you miswrite or are you actually trying to get your widget to appear on your desktop instead of in the Dashboard?

Sorry I wasn't clear, I did the "cut" and then the "add" but the portion of the website that I cut does not get carried over to my dashboard. My Dashboard doesn't even come up when I click "add" the only thing that happens is that the cut portion of the website doesn't stay lit and everything just goes back to normal?
I am running Safari 3.0.4 and the latest version of Leopard

Does this happen no matter which web site you use or only on a very specific website? If it's a specific website, please provide the address and describe what part you're trying to make a widget of.
If it's all websites, try the usual OS X maintenance steps:
Reboot.
Run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions and verify the disk.
Log in as using a different user account (create a temporary one if necessary) to see if the problem affects all users or only the one.

Thanks for all the help but nothing worked...So I called Applecare and while I was on the phone with them I tried to create another user but when I tried to log into that user i got a blue screen of death. Ok no problem just try and boot into "safe mode" by powering on and holding down the shift key, well that ended up giving me the blue screen of death too. Hmmm this is weird... Tried running permissions again but nothing but normal stuff...The only option that the Apple care guy gave me was to do a re-install of Leopard (archive and Install)...So I did and I am just testing things again and I can create the widgets and it seems to work ok?
I don't know exactly what was wrong but it seemed to fix the problem.
You had a corrupted *something* in your system, and the inability to create widgets was a manifest sign of this. Archive and Install fixed the problem. Hooray!
