Changing Word 2008 default format

How can I set Word 2008 (part of the Office 2008 Mac package) to automatically save files as .DOC instead of .DOCX? I recall having this problem with Office XP on my Windows desktop. I just prefer to have .DOC files as the computers in my school are mostly PCs and the Macs do not have Office 2008 (yet).

Thanks!

It's also available if you click on the "Options..." button in the save dialogue box.
