Leopard and the G5 Power PC

I've tried to intall Leopard on my power G5 PC and it tells me that I may need to format my drive using Disk Utility. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that my 2 internal drives have been set up as a RAID?

So I was considering installing Leopard on to an external, importing all my data using Migration Assistant, and then Clonning that to my main HD.

Anyone have any advice on the subject?

Thanks
