ATI Radeon X800 XT fan

any one have an x800 with a fan thats driving them crazy or is it just me? or better yet anyone know how to fix this problem? i'm about ready to unplug that fan and throw it across the room.

any one know a good solution to this

I used to have one - make sure you've upgraded to the latest firmware. If it's not up to date, it'll run at full speed instead of throttling up when stressed.

i have all my drivers up to date downloaded and reinstalled a few days ago still having the same problems. any other possible solutions?

apart from getting one of those micro vacuum kits that fit on the end of your vacuum and let you clean out some of the dust from inside your machine, or a few cans of compressed air, I can't really answer your question.....or did I??
I have that card and, well, read the above for help
I don't know why Apple went with the G5 design-looks cool, airflow great, but does tend to get mighty dusty--maybe an option for some kind of filter in the front of the case (like a furnace filter)

yeah the g5 is a dust magnet... as for the x800 i've taken it out and dusted it off and still its loud and annoying... in my travels i found a replacement fan called ATI Silencer by arctic cooling.... they are made for the PC cards but i;ve also found link on how to mod them for the mac cards... might try that. problem being is they were discontinued and not so easy to find online.

it's not making any noise at all right now... well not as much. every so often i have to open the case up and touch the fan to quiet it up.

thinking about getting rid of this machine and looking into a newer model soon anyways
