iTunes and permissions... NO work.. help??
After nearly a week of the new Leo, and occasional glitches here and there, I am happy... except suddenly not!
I can't open iTunes, at all!!
Whenever I launch it, this is the message I get:
"iTunes Library file is locked, on a locked disk or you do not have permission for this file."
In simple terms, I can't use iTunes at all.
I have gone to all files and there are no problems with read-write permissions, I have done repair permissions from disk utility more than once, and even deleted the entire app and all related files, re downloaded it from Apple.com, reinstalled, used disk utility again and all that stuff.... no luck, the disk is NOT locked, and all permissions according to disk utility are OK.
I do a lot of sound file conversion to MP3 format, and seems this process is tied directly into iTunes, because when I do a conversion to MP3, iTunes comes up and then gives me the message above and then shuts itself off and the conversion process to MP3 also quits!
Of all the 'little' problems with Leo, this is the most frustrating, that I cannot use one of Apple's own prized apps on its other prized child: Leo!
I am out of options, any ideas???
As a follow up, something seems to be up with my permissions, as I just did a repair permissions and it told me all was fine, then I decided to check it and on verify, it says something else is not correct.. what's up with permissions changing all on their own?
Here's the latest report from verify:"Verify permissions for “Mini”
Permissions differ on "private/var/log/secure.log", should be -rw------- , they are -rw-r----- .
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgent" has been modified and will not be repaired."
Thanks in advance.
