System Volume Information?

i've got an external hard drive hooked up to my Macbook 1.83 and see a System Volume Information folder that i did not put there.

it contains a folder called "restore" with the rest of the label being a series of numbers, about 20 or so.

do i need this? if i need to restore the system do i need to keep it??

I think that folder has something to do with Parallels or VMWare. Used either of those?

Basically, the System Volume Information/Restore is a backup for Windows. I'm thinking that somehow, you've created the backup in the directory you found it in. This is likely via Parallels, if you have no idea what VMWare is.

VMWare is an alternative to Parallels.. released pretty recently. It's still in beta.

Now, I'm not quite sure, but that seems to be where the folder is coming from. But, you may want to wait for others to chime in with more experience before deleting that information.

I'd be inclined to believe so.
