MacBook battery dead?

Daughter's MacBook battery icon at top of screen has an X in it... shows no other data when selected. When you unplug the charger the computer dies. I assume the battery is dead?

She has tried different chargers. Restarted etc. All updates are up to date. Repaired permissions.

Battery dead?

Thanks,
Thom

Download and install or run Onyx, select only the options to clear the system and kernel caches, and reboot. the x will be gone.

It's some sort of error that's corrected by doing the above. Has worked for me on both Core Duos and Core 2 Duos.
