I just don't understand all the terminology used with Parallels (let alone all the different beta vs. stable versions). Can anyone tell me if there is a way I can use Parallels to access an existing Boot Camp installation of Windows on my Macbook?
I'm a new Switcher, 24" iMac. I first installed Boot Camp (on a FAT32 partition, not NTFS) and then downloaded a demo copy of the latest Parallels. I can launch Parallels in OS X and tell it to boot up the copy of XP created by Boot Camp.
I am a software developer and occasionally work from home on my Mac and otherwise suffer Windows XP at work. I write front-end Java/JSP code natively in OS X and run back-end Win32 services in Parallels simultaneously and it works beautifully (with 2GB of RAM, anyways)
I can't remember if you must use a FAT partition for this setup. Can anybody else comment on that?
I should also mention that with OS X and Parallels, connecting to my office shares is insanely easy. It's easier for me to download files from the office to my OS X desktop and drag it to my Parallels window than to suffer through Windows' terrible networking UI to get the remote files.
