Apple BT keyboard and right shift key

Whenever I press the right hand shift key on my Apple BT keyboard, the window slide down and to the right a bit. I can't actually use it as a shift key and when it does the window "shift" thing it actually stops the stream of typing so whatever I am entering stops for a brief period. Very annoying.

I went to the shortcuts tab in the keyboard settings and clicked on the button to restore defaults but this did nothing. I did see that the default shortcut settings conflict with each though as there are now four or five items that have little warning markers beside them.

Anyone else have/had this problem and know what to do about it?

Something to try ......
- Switch to a different user and see if the problem follows you (not likely). If it does, you have a system level issue. - Another thing to try is to hookup a wired keyboard and see what kind of results you get. I have found that some software (usually games) will remap some of the keyboard keys, unfortunately it's not specific to the game only. Have you installed any new stuff lately that may have effected your keyboard layout? One quick check you can do is to see what is being loaded at time of startup / login. Go to system preferences > accounts > your account > login options. See whats being loaded, remove what doesn't look right and test again. Wouldn't hurt to write down what you remove or better still just do a screen shot of that window. Good luck.

This is actually on a PowerBook and it doesn't happen with the built-in keyboard. I seem to recall it happening with a different wireless keyboard sometime back now that you mention it.

I will try it in a different user and see what happens.

Fixed! It was the Exposé trigger from the control panel. Don't know how it got set to the right shift key of the external keyboard, but that's what did it. Wasn't happening with the built-in so it doesn't make much sense.

Anyway. If this happens to anyone else. Check the Exposé controls.

Cheers
