TiBook 667 VGA screen swap with 667DVI, wrong res?
My brother has a VGA TiBook 667 that had cracked hinges and scratched screen. I was recently able to get a TiBook 667 DVI with a bad logic board from my boss's daughter.
The donor screen is has a native resolution of 1280x854 while the original screen was 1158x768 I think. Anyways, the computer is assembled after the screen swap and the new screen lights all the pixels when booting (the apple logo is centered verticaly and horizontally). Once OS X started to load the computer switched to the old default resolution of 1158x768 and just sort of starts over on the extra pixels. (Like a tiled background image).
1280x854 isn't an option in the display prefs, so we download switchresx but can't seem to get it to work either.
Are there any hints out there or firmware hacks that you know of to get the older TiBook to correctly run the newer screen. The display connector was the same on both screens and the screens works properly when the computer first starts booting so it must be possible.
