force quit doesn't work. what next??

how do i shut down a program that has crashed. I have iTunes and it will not open or force quit and there is the little triangle under the icon in the dock.

Is there a way to shut it down

Did you force quit by mousing on the dock icon? I've found that sometimes that doesn't work for me, either.

However, by going to the blue Apple submenu on your taskbar, you'll find Force Quit also. This one has never failed me.

did you try restarting? If you did, then suggest re-installing iTunes

I triied the apple too with the force quit ,didn't work.

Restarting it worked, but I am not doing that everytime. (feels like a windows machine)

i have the new shuffle hooked up.

This happened to me the other day when I tried to hook up my grandson's iPod nano. iTunes seemed to be running, but it wouldn't recognize the iPod, nor would it quit - ended up restarting the computer.

I think in my case the problem was caused by the Nano being formatted for Windows and I had Virtual PC running at the time. I think Windows was trying to do it's new hardware thing with the Nano and that confused my whole system.

After restarting, I was able to hook up the Nano and use iTunes to load stuff on to it.

Don't know if any of these same conditions exist in your case.
