Unhappy loose iBook power adapter connection

Hi all,

It seems I've been inadvertently tripping on the power adapter cord to my G4 iBook a bit too much. Now it's quite loose in the socket and I really have to fiddle to get it to charge. Oh yes, and my cat bit it once too.

The plug end doesn't look too distorted so I'm wondering if the socket end has taken most of this abuse.

Is there any way to restore the firm grip once enjoyed between my computer and power plug?

[edit] I have Best Buy's Performance Service Plan on this computer. Now I wonder if that would be helpful with restoring missing letters to my keyboard.

The computer is about 1 3/4 years old

[end edit]

Also, what's the likely long term prognosis?

Looking forward to your shared experience, and speculation.

Cheers

Common issue. The only way to tell if it's the adapter or the DC-In Board at fault is to swap adapters. If two adapters are the same, the DC-In board is at fault, and requires replacement. Thankfully, this kind of repair is fairly inexpensive as the board itself is a cheap part.

Hi Lars,

Thanks for the quick reply. This puts my mind at ease somewhat as I was worried that the female power in connection might have been an integral part of the logic board.

I'll bring my iBook to an Apple outlet to try another adapter and go from there.

Cheers.
