Brand new 5G ipod wont mount on the desktop

Im running a G3, with OS 10.3.9, USB 1.0.

I just got a video ipod and while it is showing that the battery is being charged, it is not mounting on the desktop, or appearing in iTunes.

Whats goin on?

It could be that the USB 1.0 port isn't providing enough power for the iPod. There have been reports of USB 1.1 working (Syncing, but not charging), but I can't find anything of USB 1.0.

You're spot on. I had the USB cable attached through my keyboard. I attached it directly to the back of the CPU and it worked fine.

Phew!
