Strange Wireless Problems with iBook

I've got an iBook G4 1ghz with airport extreme card. I have some strange problems with it. I cannot seem to connect to any wireless lan that has any kind of security enabled. When I try to set a password on my home router it will not let me connect. I tried re typing again and again and nothing.

Now I've moved out and their is wireless here. Last night I was able to connect, but today I cannot. I've got the SSID and WEP password and it just wont work.

I've also never been able to connect this iBook to any network with any kind of security - even an Apple Airport base station!

I'm about to throw this ibook out onto the lawn!

Any ideas?

I was having wonky wireless problems with my iBook some weeks ago and after farting around with it for a few days I ended up doing an Archive and Reinstall. Fixed my problems. I think I read somewhere that 10.4.7 was problematic. I would suggest starting with the basic repairs like fix permissions and booting into Safe Mode (hold down the Shift key on reboot) before doing anything as drastic as a reinstall.

I've had the problems with everything from 10.3 that the machine came with upto 10.4.7

Any other ideas?

My wireless works 100% flawlessly with non secured networks. If the network is secured it will not work at all!

I'm about to bang my head against the wall.
