Angry Switching question: Excel for Mac

Hello:

Being a recent switcher after many unhappy years of PC use I'm now busy using my Macbook for work use. A key application for me is Excel which so far seems too offer good compatibiliy across Windows and Mac.

Here is my question:

Is there any way to default the keyboard shortcuts in Excel for Mac to Excel for Windows?

For example hitting F2 defaults to the system brightness rather than take you into a cell for editing.

I find it a huge pain since it is truly faster to stay on the keyboard while working in Excel vs. switching from keyboard to mouse and back.

So I'm hoping someone can point me to a setting to disable the system keys while in Excel and enable them outside the program.

Thanks,
Paul

Go to System Preferences-->Keyboard&Mouse-->Keyboard

Check the "Use the F1-F12 keys to control software features." check box.

This will get the F2 key to highlight a cell in Excel.

To use F2 to select 'brightness' on your display, hold down the FN (function) key in combination with F1-F2. It will also enable the other F-keys to enable system functions, such as Dashboard.
