I went over the apple.com forum discussions, and i noticed that allot of users are complaining that the brand new White Macbook, they have for example for 2 weeks, has discolouration around the trackpad...in other words, where your palms rest while typing...
I am afraid to purchase, if after 2 weeks, i get the same thing. I have seen pictures from users and it is really gross. I know that over time, white tends to be like this... but after 14 days of purchasing is quite absurb.
On the other hand Apple is saying that it is a cosmetic thing and not replaceable..

Thanks,
Yeah I was looking at the White MacBook at Eaton Centre on Saturday and the plastic of the interior (palm rest and sides) was turning yellowish and dark grey. Of course, I understand that these displayed models are tested by customers everyday, but they looked displeasing and gross.
I know 2 people with white MacBooks, and they don't have the problem. How widespread is this? We can't necessarily count display models at stores, since we don't know how hard they have tried to clean them. Anyone here on ehMac have this problem, and what have you done to try to clean it?

The palm rest and trackpad still get stained even if the user is a clean freak and a non-smoker... maybe a bit less
True, though in that case - at least with the iBook G3/G4 - the top case and trackpad area would turn black over time, not yellow. Though it could be that the material the MacBook is made out of tends it make it yellow versus black and is not used on the iBook models.
Agreed with Heart.
