I was transfering some files from my G5 to my iBook, started the g5 in target mode and my iBook froze. Now it will only boot up to a blue screen (ocasionally gets to a desktop) and is useless.
I started it in target mode, ran discwarrior and rebuilt it, but it is still stuck.
It will not start in safe mode.
Any ideas?

Just a thought- what about booting from the install disks and making sure that you can see the iBook's drive, and that it's selected as the startup disk?
Zap the PRAM: Hold Command+Option+P+R immediately after turning the unit on.

I had the EXACT same problem last week in my iBook G4 14". It involved replacing the motherboard at the Applestore in Toronto. Now it works great.
I was able to put the ibook in target mode and format and install a brand new copy of the OS (after I took out all the important data off it) and it would mess up almost everytime. Sometimes it would boot but shortly after it would freeze HARD.
Running the Hardware test worked and it said nothing was wrong but obviously it was bad info.
I even took out my extra RAM and Airport card, reset PRAM, reset PMU and a myriad of other tests and only replacing the motherboard fixed this.
Hope you have Applecare. The replacing was more than what I paid for the computer around this time last year. Around $1250 including labour. Luckely I had my Applecare and it was free for me.
Check in the system profile to see if the Computer recognizes the camera when plugged in. Firewire can be finicky about how things are hooked up and it is possible to burn out the firewire ports if there is a power surge.
Sounds fried to me. I'd take it into an authorized service centre. It's possible that the problem is covered under one of the iBook repair extension programs, which would cover the motherboard replacement under warranty (even if it's out of warranty). I had my iBook's board replaced under one such repair extension program.

Take any extra RAM out and reset the open firmware.
Command Option O F - type in reset all.

Thanks MD. It's actually "reset-all" (for the information of others, it needs the hyphen). That didn't solve it. I'm guessing that the logic board is fried as described above by madgunde and Boomcha.
I'm glad there is Applecare in case it isn't covered by some blanket policy.
Oh well...
