Orinoco WaveLan WiFi Lucent AirPort PCMCIA Card Question
Is there any difference between the Bronze, Silver & Gold Orinoco Wavelan wireless card which work so well in the early PowerBooks or was it just a marketing issue. They're all listed as 802.11b 11MB cards.
Lucent 802.11b WaveLAN Gold PCMCIA Orinoco 9, 10.2-10.4
Lucent 802.11b WaveLAN Silver PCMCIA Orinoco 9, 10.2-10.4
Lucent 802.11b WaveLANBronze PCMCIA Orinoco 9, 10.2-10.4
Thanks,
John Calhoun

Used a Silver with a Pismo (OS 9)and an early Titanium (OSX). I think the Silver only supported 64bit and the Gold 128-bit WEP but can't be sure...

Try to get one of these cards from Macsense:

I used to have this one with my Lombard and it worked great,
I never had a single dropped connection and it had an extra long range.

Thanks,

All work with ORiNOCO software - hence can be used with a PB 1400
I believe the difference is in the encryption supported from none to 128 bit.
FYI the ORiNOCO software can be downoaded from the PROXIM site. Sorry do not have the URL handy.
I am in the process of putting a PB 1400 back into service for fun and frolic so I have been going through these things.

One further point - they were also marketed under different names. Google PowerBook 1400 and go through some of the articles.
I just picked up a Dell TrueMobile 1150 series card - the same card.
