For some reason or another when I shut down my ibook(the latest one) it takes like 15 minutes to shutdown and when I want to restart it doesn't. Also some programs I open freeze and I can' force quit, this is my first mac and usually I would like defrag on my pc, but now I have no clue what to do, let me know!

Check out your fonts, have you added any lately? I've seen this exact behavior when there are system font conflicts (like helvetica).

Also I would recommend to search a bit in the forums here for info on repairing permissions, etc. It has been beat to death many many times already.

Hi,

I would install Onyx and run the cleaning and maintain options. Then I would install Anacron. Then I would look in my Applications folder for Font Book, as mguertin suggests, and see what you can do to clean out duplicate fonts.

At least that is what I would do.

Your drive may be failing - are you backed up??

You might also have overlapped files whcih Disc Warrior can deal with.

How full is the drive??

Ran Onyx have Anacron up and running and deleted a duplicate font..everything seems fine now..thanks guys!
