Dual Airport .b stopped dealing wifi

MY dual ethernet airport base station has stopped sending out a wireless signal. It ran perfectly for the longrest time then the signal would appear and disappear. I've tried powercycling, resetting the modem but to no avail.

Anyone have any tips on restoring wifi to my Airport? I've got wifi right now by connecting my old D-Link wireless to the Airport, ugly but functional.

Sounds like your Base Station is defective. Make sure that the base station is set to being able to allow 802.11b connections and not only 802.11g signals, as I believe your iBook uses 802.11b if it's a G3 - all assuming you have an Extreme base station; if not, then nevermind. Is your base station under warranty?

I'd be pretty surprised if it was under warranty.

Yer correct: iBook is a G3 700 and the Airport is a Dual Ethernet Snow with 802.11b

It sound sdefective, though a number of other Airport users have reported problems with signal after the 10.4.2 Tiger upgrade or even just the 4.2 Airport upgrade.

I want to take it apart.

I'm gonna try this:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106602

Hard reset and upload the original software for the Airport

Just out on software update Airport Update!

This update fixes reliability and resolves AirPort compatibility issues with certain third party 802.11 cards and access points for Mac OS X v10.4.3 and later.
