Dead HD, how do you restore from iPod?

Friend of mine has crashed his HD (under XP). Wants to know how to restore his music collection from the iPod. Terrorised to erase everything through auto synch. Suggestions? Thanks!

Not sure what programs are available for the PC, there are dozens for the mac. He'll need an application that will let him bypass the ipods built in copy protection. Basically, all the songs are copied to the new drive, then you just re=import them to itunes,

Yea, assuming you have a Mac, why don't you take it for him and do it. I mean, it may be tedious to copy them back over to his compy, but it'll probably be easier to save them all.

Thanks. Told my friend to download iTunes -> Folder 1.2 for XP from VersionTraker and I picked up Senuti for me. Better safe than sorry!
