What type of ram for the mac mini??

Hello, I am mostly likely going to be buy a 1gb stick of ram for my mac mini tommorrow (if I don't end up selling it).

Just a quick question.

What type of ram should I buy?? I'm pretty sure I need DDR 333?? could I use DDR 400??? Let's just say there is no price difference for the 2 versions of ram.

btw, is this a great improvement with 1gb versus 512mb of ram?? I find my mini lags sometimes when I'm running several programs at the same time. I like to have itunes playing most of the time.

Programs I use most right now. Limewire, itunes, imovie, idvd, toast, photoshop, ffmpegx, and can't forget about mac messenger.

I like to keep mac messenger, and itunes running at all times without really lagging. I know the most I can put in the mini is 1gb, so should I do this?? or should I get an imac and put more ram?? I don't really do much with my computer except for those apps mentioned above. Besides that stuff mentioned above, just email, and web browsing most of the time.

What should I do?? upgrade ram? upgrade to imac??

The Mini uses PC2700 and you can substitute PC3200

The main thing is to buy your RAM from a reputable dealer who tests and guarantees compatibility with the Mini, and offers a lifetime warranty.

iMovie, iDVD and Photoshop all beneft from more RAM, and also from a more powerful processor. Of course there will be a noticeable difference going from the G4 Mini to an iMac G5, especially the brand new ones announced today.

However you are talking about 10 times more money than the simple RAM upgrade so it's hard to seriously compare. You have to ask yourself: Do I have the money? Would I enjoy or use the added power to the extent of $1600 worth? If yes to both, then get the iMac G5 no question.

Thanks
Trevor

This is the RAM I used in mine, it works great:

The PC3200 is actually cheaper than the slower PC2700 RAM and works great.
