severe erratic behaviour on an iBook, help needed.

Hello,

i am helping a friend out with an iBook g3, 800 Mhz.

here is the down low.

randomly, applications dissappear. right now, iPhoto and iMovie are missing.

everytime the machine is restarted, iTunes and Msn Messenger have to be re-installed, which is really weird, i have run Disk warrior on it, via target disk mode.

i ran onyx, and mac janitor. and and have reparied disk permissions.

i have no idea what else to do.

all i'm thinking is left to do is to a fresh install of the os, which is Panther, 10.3.9 at the moment.

what can she do otherwise?

thanks

I'd recommend an archive and install.

And if that fails to resolve the issue, backup - erase - install. If it still doesn't work after that, you've got a hardware issue (RAM would be the first thing to check).
