Hello,
i have an external HDD and I just recently backed up my cousin's mp3 folder onto it (seeing how I'm not allowed to download from P2P programs on campus)
Anyhow, there were a lot of Album Art Pictures in there.
I'm trying to delete them to make the folder look neater, and I get this error
The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for "AlbumArt_{0855FDC0-7668-4FE0-9D0F-C13511A78A61}_Large.jpg
Hey
I know what you mean, it appears on my other folders and such
but for this I don't get that drop down menu.
It says,
You can only read
I wonder if I format it again into something new? A Mac compatible format? But that shouldn't be the case should it? It's on NTFS File format right now, I reformatted it using a Windows Machine.
Can I change that through my Mac?
Likely the reason you can't change permissions is that you can't do so on an NTFS formatted drive unless connected to a Windows machine. In order to be able to change permissions the drive has to be HFS / HFS+ (ie.: Mac compatible)
If you have to have the drive remain NTFS because you regularly connect it to Windows machines, you could try copying the files to your Mac, remove the artwork, and copy it back. Alternatively you should be able to hook it to a Windows machine and change the permissions.
