My new white apple keyboard

Hello,

my friends just bought me a gift, a new white apple keyboard! i love it. it's is so nice.

i wanted one because i love the volume and eject button on the keyboard. though, since i don't have a new apple monitor, i don't have access to a power button as easily as i should.

anyway, my question is, the built in hub. It's not USB 2.0 is it?

thanks

Unfortunately, no. It has no source to draw power from. It's only USB 1.

Make sure you pick up a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to keep that white keyboard white.

lol yes, i guess i should...it won't wear the letters away will it?

grr...my macally mouse looks so ugly beside it now, i want an apple mouse now! with scroll!!!

what was the final decision on mighty mouse? go or no?

i'm not paying close to 100 bucks for a mouse, what a ripoff...but it's white...mmm...my shuffle looks good beside this keyboard. And the keys are so soft, and silent... i love it and i love how it has so many more keys than my old apple condensed keyboard, yet it's only 1 inch wider!!

i hate large keyboards that waste deskspace.

I'm a bit confused by your answer.
It sounds as if the apple keyboard can't be USB 2.0 because USB 2.0 needs power whereas USB 1.1 doesn't...........
My understanding is that both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 need power to drive the chips; separate from that there are powered and unpowered USB hubs both for USB 1.1 and USB 2.0
The hub on the apple keyboard is an unpowered USB 1.1 hub, but I don't think there is any technical reason why it couldn't have been an unpowered USB 2.0 hub just as well.

I think this depends mostly on your individual preference as to the shape and size of the mouse.
I personally don't like the feel of the basic Apple mouse - mighty mouse is no different. It just doesn't feel right in my hand and is awkward to use, for me at least.
The technology is great, so is the appearnce, but because it doesn't feel comfortable to me I won't use it.
So I suggest you try it out before buying.
There are a few other white mouses (or mice) available from different manufacturers that you may want to consider.

A little bird told me that FS is selling a MacOSX compatible Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo for $29 next week ($80 off - one per household) - although you didn't hear it from me... (wink)

To shutdown, do:
control + eject
a window will appear asking what to do. just tap enter.

I really miss the power button to turn the Mac on. Don't know why Apple doesn't put this back on the keyboard, it was so handy.
To turn it off I usually use the pull down menu under the Apple; didn't know about the keyboard commend, but that's handy to have - thank you.

PS: Does Apple have a suggestion box like some other companies?
