Mouse troubles

Using an iMac G5/ OS 10.3.9

When using Mail and editing a Email that I am replying to when I click with the mouse once on the page the whole line of text is highlighted instead of the blinking insertion point showing. Sometimes when I click anywhere on the page a square of blue shows instead of the blinking insertion point.

When using Safari and after reading an article on say a newspaper site the back button doesn't take me back the the front page but back to the site or article that was reading previously. In a sense it skips a page.

TIA for any help.

sounds like you're somehow getting double clicks instead of single clicks ... is it a programmable mouse by chance?

Tried another mouse this morning and all is well. Never thought a mouse less than a year old would fail, expect things to last longer than that.
Using a strawberry hockey puck that I've kept as a collector's item only until I get a new mouse. Not an easy mouse to use.

Apple Pro mice.. don't usually fail. However, it can happen.

Myself.. I use a Logitech MX310 Wired Optical mouse. Couldn't be happier. Logitech makes some great gear. Their entry level mice are really cheap.
