I would like to add some bookmarks I have recently stored in my PB, to the bookmarks I already have in my desktop, but without erasing any of the bookmarks in my desktop. Can this be done? And if so, how?
Would you not export the bookmarks and transfer or email them to the second computer. Then import to Firefox on the second machine. The import should show up in a separate portion of the desktop bookmarks.
I would export the bookmarks on the second machine as backup before beginning. That way you can easily revert back to your previous settings should you have an issue.

Exactly - and then if you wish go into 'manage bookmarks' on firefox and move the added bookmarks from the separate portion to wherever you want.
The process is very intuitive.
You could use URL Manager Pro, it will move everything nicely for you, and you can sort them if you want before putting them back.
Also, you can use it like I did, to amalgamate all my bookmarks from Camino, IE and Safari and then distribute that master list to all my browsers. I've used it for over 3 years in its trial mode (works perfectly for free) and have been happy enough with it that I registered it.
Feel free to read the rest of my article here regarding essential apps for OS X, it may have some other stuff you might find useful.

I thouht of this, but I was afraid that importing the export would substitute the export for all the saved bookmarks. But backing up the saved set should take care of it. Thanks very much.

Thanks very much for letting me know about URL Manager. I will give a try first to the freebie procedure recommended by iPetie. But thanks very much, in case the latter procedure does not do what I want to accomplish.
