It is also helpful if you post your success in solving your problem and if you used the solution provided by the good people here or if you found one someplace else.

mac acting weird

Greetings....
Maybe one of you wonderful experts can resolve a glitch that is ticking me off .....
Starting yesterday my wonderful mac is acting very weird, With out asking it, Safari or Firefox will open up and show several adult sites. Is there anything that one can do to get rid of this annoyance ???
I'm currently using OS10 6.7
Thanks,
Rob

You've likely installed MacDefender, or some variant of it.

Removal is fairly straightforward:
remove macdefender - Google Search

Move it to the trash, and immediately restart the computer.

If the issue persists, reboot into safe mode (shift during boot, and during login) to disable non-system critical services and all login items, and trash anything related to it, then restart.

Browser to e-Mail Link

Before installing Mountain Lion, after viewing any URL by link from an e-Mail message, closing the Browser site automatically returned screen to the open e-Mail message. Now, closing the URL closes the browser and I have to log on to the e-Mail. It's very aggravating. Can you suggest a way to fix this, please?

Peter Douglas.

Hi Peter you might have more luck starting a new thread in the Troubleshooting forum. This thread is for comments on the troubleshooting guidelines. I'm sorry I can't help your current issue, I'm not on Mountain Lion.
