My computer just stopped and came up with this message: overlapped I/O operation is in progress. Just lasted a few seconds and then everything was normal.
I have absolutely no idea what that was all about.

Hmm never heard that coming up but if you are in our neck of the woods I'd come in a get your drive checked. Overlapped files are bad news.

Macdoc, I just ran an Apple Hardware test for diagnosing hardware problems and everything passed. Did not detect any problems. I am only a half an hour away so will let you know if I have any more strange messages. Thanks.

So that presents another problem. This is on an iMac G3 400MHz and I don't have any way to back up anything so I guess this means a trip down to see you. The good news is the Beige I got from you is still working like a charm.

Mmmm yeah the iMacs do like to cook drives. Better safe and you need a backup strategy- ethernet to the Beige??

I would start backing up vital files to ANYTHING: online storage, CD-Rs, whatever. If you can't do a total backup then at least save the files you need!
I smell trouble
