G3 iBook 700 Vs G4 Powerbook 400 ?

SO i have two older machines. A G3 iBook 700 with 640ram and G4 Titanium Powerbook 400 with 640 ram as well. I am trying to figure out which one would be better to give to my father-in-law in terms of speed.

I know that the G4 is a newer chip set but it has a lower Mhz rating and is an older machine that the G3 iBook. My question is which one do you figure would be a better fit for a llight user (email, photos, web surfing). I have looked for speed comparisons between the two and cannot come up with any?

Any ideas

Personaly I prefer the older PB's over the iBooks. Screen size is better and I find the older iBooks have issues. I have owned several iBooks ranging from G3-G4 1ghz. I still prefer my PB 550. Only problem that bothers some, but really doesn't bother me is the heat issues with the older titanium PB's. In your case I would keep the iBook it has 16meg video and between the two I would imagine is better then the PB 400 in stats. 8 meg video in the PB 400 is a huge downfall but decent for email/web etc.

Thanks i never realized that the ibook had a better video card than the PB. Both machines have served us well and the thing i like about the ibook is it gets great reception (wifi) and good battery life. And the nice thing about the PB is the large screen and metal casing. (which can be scrathed as well)

ANd if i let him pick between the two it is not much of a surpirze and he will most likely go for the powerbook based purely on looks alone.

Which ever one i give him the other will be up on here in the trading post.

If he'd be dazeled by looks, and won;t have much use for the WIFI, then the powerbook is probably the better idea. I also noted that for my purposes, the 233mmhz Imac has enough speed for my light use. Realisticly, I think he would be happpy with either one
