I want to share my iTunes library with the other user on my computer. I've followed the advice from other threads on this forum but it doesn't seem to work. However, in the "sharing" window in preferences, it says "Status: on, no users connected". Is this the problem? If so, how do I rectify it? Thanks.
Nothing's wrong... it's just that there are no users connected. The other users need to be on the same network and everyone needs to have iTunes running with the "Look for Shared Music" option enabled.
Once it's connected a Library icon will show up in the left panel.

And the other users need to have the same option clicked off on their iTunes computers. The Source Pane on the left will show the other libraries right below (I can't remember as no one at work is signed in right now) the Music Store icon as Manny indicated.

Don't forget, too, that for this to work on the same computer user 1 (with the library being shared) needs to leave iTunes open but not playing anything ("share my music" selected); then user 2 (connecting to the shared library) needs to login using Fast User Switching ("look for shared music" selected).
Another cool option for this is MusicPublisher ... I use this at home, it's SUPER handy to share out a folder with a bunch of music in it that you want to have iTunes access to (via the shared collections)....
It's bugged me forever that you can't just have a 'hot folder' or something of the like that iTunes can automatically pick up on ... but with this it's the next best thing I'm pretty sure that when it was still SoundJam you could do this

I have winows vista and did as you stated. However, when I try to open Itunes on the 2nd user it says the 1st user must close Itunes?
