stuff it problem on tiger 10.4

ok... so I had stuffit deluxe pro (version 9) on my mac running 10.3.9.

i upgraded to tiger.....

and I downloaded a .sit file, but stuff it 9 (point something... not sure which one), doesn't run on 10.4... and I went to get the update from the stuff it website, but that update is a .sitx file, which is associated with stuff it, which cannot open it! sheesh....

anyways... wtf do I have to do to update stuff it so that it can run on my computer?

you need to download and install Stuffit Expander (free)

Here's the Apple link:

dmg...

that doesn't help me at all... how am I supposed to extract the content from a .sit or .sitx file now so that I can extract the update for stuffit so that I can upgrade it so that it can work with 10.4?

and I get the following error when I try to extract any file that would work before...

"The operation could not be completed.

An unexpected error occurred (error code - 10660)"

if you find the free download, and they do burry it hoping to get you to buy the upgrade, it is a file that Tiger can decompress

I know this because I did a complete wipe of Panther before installing Tiger and I had the same problem. So if you poke around the site you'll find the right file. Really. :-)

No need to panic. It can be done.
