Entourage doesn't work with Mac OS 10.3.9 ??

I've got the Office 2004 Student and Teacher Edition, and everything works except for Entourage. When attempting to launch Entourage, the application crashes. The exact error is "Microsoft Entourage has encountered a problem and needs to close". I'm running a new Mac Mini that has been updated from 10.3.7 to 10.3.9 .... Repaired Disk Permissions after the update ... I've trashed the Microsoft Prefs ... still no go. I then removed all Microsoft files from the Mac ... reinstalled it and it still doesn't work!

I have even gone as far as removing all Microsoft files (again) and installing the Office 2004 30-day trial and Entourage also crashes with that copy .... so I dunno whats going on.

There's no antivirus software on the Mac ... Classic is not running ... whats the deal? Will Entourage not work with 10.3.9 ?? Please help!

Entourage '04 works fine in Panther and also in Tiger. Your problem is puzzling indeed, especially in light of the fact that even the 30 day trial recreates the same problem as the full install disk.

Is there a "remove Office" option in the full install disk? I forget. If so, that may get rid of any files that you missed when manually removing Office files.
Also, is there an old "Microsoft User Data" folder in your "Documents" folder?

Try starting Entourage with the Option key held down. You should get a menu to do some maintenance on your database. Start with "Verify database integrity".

I've used the Remove Office options, as well as searched the hard drive for any Microsoft files and trashed them ... so I definately got everything. I also tried repairing the datatbase by holding down the Option key when launching Entourage .... the database seems to be fine, but Entourage refuses to launch!

This is so annoying! I can't figure this one out .... thanks for the help so far guys .... any other suggestions?

Try creating a new user account for test purposes. Log in as the new user. Does the problem happen when you start Entourage as the new user?

That will determine if it's a problem with the Office installation or something in your user account.

Thanks Todd ... I created a standard user account and Entourage works! This is getting interesting ... I switched back to my Admin account (the one that was set up when I got my Mini about two weeks ago) and Entourage still won't work under that account!

This obviously means there must be somethign wrong with my user account ... how can I fix this??

I figured it out! I have an application installed called Silk (by Unsanity) ... if that application is enabled in my System Preferences, Entourgae will not launch. If I disable the application, Entourage works just fine

Thanks again everyone
