Problems with old microphone hookup

Hi all,

Client has a problem with a microphone, the old stand style with fuzzy cover, not a Mac microphone.

We have a minijack connected to it to plug into the Mac, and this microphone does work because it was tested on a mini tape recorder.

But, when connected to the Mac, the sound app Sound Studio cannot pick up any sound to record. We tried using this with the Mac system sound recording and it is showing sufficient levels to pick up.

Just won't work in a sound application. Any ideas?

The Mac's mic inputs are actually line-level, not mic-level. You may need to adjust accordingly - such as using a pre-amp.
