This may be a dumb question, but does an Apple keyboard (wired) work like any other keyboard would with a PC? I'm getting things in order to make the Switch, and my PC keyboard is PS/2. I was surprised how hard it is to find a USB keyboard (mice, on the other hand, are all USB these days).
Since it looks like I am going to have to buy a new KB, or shell out for an adapter that may or may not work (and will cost me $30 at Staples), I thought I would just get an Apple keyboard instead. My plan is to use a KVM switch to run both systems.
If I understand the post correctly , no the pins are different on an Mac ADB Keyboard . and never heard of an adaptor for it either . skip by a Goodwill and you can get an old Pc keyboard and mouse .
PC USB keyboards are Mac compatible for sure. Im using a MS wireless pro desktop wireless keyboard and mouse on my powermac G4
AFAIK the reverse is also true. I loaned my apple pro usb keyboard to a friend and she used it on a windows computer. The only thing Im not sure of is whether or not the apple key is recognized as the windows key.

I can live without a Windows key if everything else works. I would expect the Mac will become my primary computer anyways.
I am aware PC USB keyboards are Mac compatible, it is just sort of hard to find them, unless you go wireless, which I have no need to do. I'll probably pick up an apple keyboard, and if it doesn't work with the PC, just return it.
Logitech make many non wireless keyboards that are compatible with PC and Mac. Check out Staples as they usually have great prices. I got my Internet Navigator Keyboard when my iMac's got wine spilled in it. It was a great keyboard and I think it was like $40
I'm currently using a Microsoft Keyboard - Digital Media Pro - Wired and USB. This keyboard has the most convenient zoom tool that I'm sure to wear out eventually. I paid $50 for this at FutureShop but I believe they are selling for less than $20 now.

Any USB keyboard will work with either platform. Some keys will be slightly different in function but you will figure that out. The KVM switch (USB) works fine as well.
Can I take it from the above posts that ALL PC keyboards are Mac compatible? I am in the market now for a keyboard for the Mac Mini, but I always look for the Mac icon on the box, and so far they are few and far between and lots of them do not have USB ports incorporated in the keyboard. Are there any caveats when shopping for a compatible keyboard?

All USB PC keyboards are Mac compatible to a point.
Point being that a few keys are mapped differently.
But why not just buy an Apple USB keyboard. They are only $39.00 with free shipping if you buy from the website. You get all the keys mapped correctly plus volume, mute and eject keys.
