Exclamation Urgentcy needed:one partition not booting

i've got an old Beige G3 with an G4 800 card from sonnet 300 some odd megs of ram using xpostfacto to boot into os X.3 and it's worked perfectly for Along time (unknown how long)
so it came to upgrading season and i insalled a the G4 800 card, all was well no boot issues at all, yesturday i went to do a back up Via firewire cd burner all worked no problems with that, then i wanted to defarg the HD went to start up disk os X and changed the boot disk to the norton utilities CD in my firewire drive and rebooted, it didn't boot flickerd couple times and just stalled at an os 9 happy face so i shut it down and unpluged the firewire drive (and pci firewire card) went to try and boot normaly got that good ol' flashing question mark.
At this point i started hearing the drive spin up click and then spin down over and over it never stoped, so i stuck the norton CD into the interal drive and booted off it all was good got a invaild disk pop up, freaked out, clicked ignore and ran disk doctor as fast as i could found some issues fixed them and the disk mounted, (THANK GOD) copied all the files i need to another partition on the same HD

now nothing will boot off that "fixed" partition os 9 or os X I'm going to run disk warrior tomorrow because i find it better for major problems, like this,

Is there another course of action i should take? This disk seems pretty gone should i replace it? if i'm need to reformat i'll just replace it with a bigger HD,

sorry for rambaling if you understood any of it give me your thoughts please

P.s. i copied the system folder from the broken partition and it didn't boot then i copied the norton disk over to the 2nd partition (replaced the system folder) and it booted fine weird!!!

im going to be brutally honest with you and chances are you are not going to like my answer:
buy a new machine.
running disk warrior or booting of the os x system cd to run disk utility may help you out, in the short term.

http://eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/.../Framework.cfm

if you're not hopefully you'll find an answer there.....if you are, sorry can't help you any further.

good luck
