The Amazing Disappearing Printer!
Hi All,
Okay, so I've got an Epson Stylus 3000 sitting on what I lovingly refer to as my "server" (B&W G3 running 10.3.8, not the server version), and I have this printer sharing across the network. I've got a couple of problems with it, but I'll start off with the most critical one...
This printer is showing up on all other computers as a shared printer, with the exception of one machine (Mirror drive G4, 10.3.8). The real kicker? This same machine can see printers shared from other computers on the network. So it's just ignoring shared printers from my server for some reason. This printer used to be visible on the machine, but disappeared a few days ago. Anybody have any thoughts on how I can force the computer to find the shared printer again? (And, yes, I have checked for it in the printer utility via Appletalk and Rendevouz. I didn't bother with an IP address, as I don't believe "shared" printers use the protocal in that way... although correct me if I'm wrong.)
Okay, the second item is more of an annoyance than a serious problem. If I start a print job from one of the machines on the network that can see the 3000, and then decide I need to cancel the job, I can't. I mean, I can cancel it on the desktop of the computer that requested the print job, but it still runs through the "server" to the printer. Deleting the print job on the "server" just causes it to flash out of and then back into existence again and start the job over. Any way of stopping this?
My thanks in advance for any help you alll can provide...
