Show "List of Users" at login doesn't work

When I log in, I want to see only the icons of the 3 users on my computer. As we all know, the next step would be to click on your icon and then enter your password.

I checked off "Display Login Window as: List of Users" in my System Preferences - NOTHING ELSE is checked off, yet when I boot up, it still asks me to enter my Name and Password.

I've had this problem ever since I bought my computer and I've had to put up with it for several months now.

It's a corrupted preference file. You need to delete the following file: com.apple.loginwindow.plist

It can be found by opening your hard drive, opening the Library folder, then the Preferences folder.

Or if you're really bored you can always edit the line in a text editor after
<key>SHOWFULLNAME</key>
to say <false/> instead of <true/>

Thanks for your help, but I did it and it didn't help.
I opened the file in a text editor and it's already false.

This is really annoying.

That's odd. If you haven't deleted the file I'd just delete it and restart. If that fails again, I would suggest repairing permissions (either use Onyx or Apple's Disk Utility) in case something wonky has happened.
