Question how do I...

Is it possible to take a segment from a dvd and put it into an imovie. Ex. if i wanted a scene from a friends vacation dvd could i take it and put a tiny bit of it into a movie. Thanks in advance

It's illegal to copy all or any part of a commercial DVD. Even if you bought it.

I've heard that there are ways to do it though.

ok i mean like imovies others have given me on dvd. That was just an example. I mean like vacation movie or something

Heh heh, ok. Do a search for Mac DVD ripping tools. It'll rip it to an MPEG2 file. I believe then you can import into iMovie. If not, you may have to convert the clip to DVStream.
