Finding the Printer Model File for Canon i860

I need help locating the Canon i860 printer model file.

I have a Canon i860 printer connected to my Windows XP computer. I want to be able to access the specific functions available for my Canon i860 from my Mac OS X system. Unfortunately, the Canon i860 isn't listed in the 'CANON' listing for printers. If I specify 'Other' under the Printer Model dialogue, which file should I point to?

NOTE: I have installed the Canon drivers for Mac OS X on my Mac - I even see them under /library/Printers/Canon/...

I have the same issue with my Epson Stylus Photo R300

I fought with it for hours, and memories of the woman on TV going on about how easy it was to use a Mac without having to download drivers over Christmas, instead of the nightmare her father had to go thru in Windows fummed thru my brain.

Solution:

Probably have to wait till Tiger, OR,

Hook the printer up to the Mac, and share the printer.

On the windows side, do this:

Open up a web browser, and go to http://macip:631/printers

You should see a web page outlining printers that are hooked up to your Mac.

When setting up a printer in Windows, set it to use Internet printing, and specify an address in the following type of format:

http://macip:631/printers/Canon_i860/

Thank you so much! I was able to add the printer in Windows using the method above - really cool! I still have a problem though, nothing prints. It's as if the jobs dissappear into limbo; I'm not seeing anything in the print queue on the Mac.

I would very much appreciate some more help.

I might have spoken too soon on this one... also on the Mac side, ensure that Windows sharing is enabled.

When setting a driver up, there seems to be many different opinions, but a good Post Script driver is a good idea... such as an Apple or Canon PS.

However, there are apparently ways to get Rendevous working in windows too... so before I say anything else, please read this thread..

Thank you again for all your help. I will try some of the "tricks" described in the thread you've posted. Up to this point, I've tried a bunch of different methods. Strange thing is, I've never had any troulbe mapping to the queue, whether it's just plain-old shared by the mac and browsed to by the Windows box...or whether I map the Windows box to the RAW print queue (as explained in the thread).
