Question USB card on Beige G3

OK I searched the forums here as best I could and found no matches.
I just spent may hours trying to get a Usb card to work in a beige G3 desktop.
G3 266 with 3D Ati chip and later Rom, 300+ ram 40Gig Samsung ide drive.
( trying to get a usb HP laser connected #1160.
It would either not see it (Card) or the os would crash on startup Error 11
(9.1 and 9.2.1) .
Also if I ran any!!! usb ext.s I could not get the MYOB app to open.

Though my no name ( Startech) usb card worked fine in my Beige MT ( scsi startup!) !!!!
Could this be a USB-Ide conflict??
Seemed to be an extension conflict that got 9.2.1 to boot again.
Could not load MYOB onto G3 MT to see if it would run with Usb card. They handed me a handfull of floppys about three versions old and I would have to do that install plus several updates to test it out. Arrgggg...
Any on else had wierdness gettin a USB card to work in a Beige G3???
Thanks
Steve

USB card

I've had a similar experience with a USB card worked fine under 9.1 but would not be found under 9.2 and would show back up in OSX.Of course using OS9.2 for classic I needed a fix so I remember finding something at the 6400zone about changing the USB driver to a lower version and doing something with the files taking them out of the folder restarting and placing them back in.Upon restart USB card worked fine under 9.2 as well.I'll have a look after and see if I can find the link for that problem.

Thanks James And Gizmo!
For the record this is only as usb 1 card I am trying to get working. The wierd thing is it worked without problems in a machine that booted off a scsi drive. I even dragged that very system over to the desktops g3s drive and it would still not work.
Any further insight would be appreciated.
Thanks again!

Try this article:

this is what took care of my problems with my USB card.

Good luck,

James
