iBook G3 Dual USB Optical Drive Drawer won't Close
Hello all,
The CD/DVD drive drawer on my daughetrs iBook 500 will not stay closed. Can anyone suggest a fix (other than taping it shut). It's long out of warranty and I'm hoping I don't need to replace the optical drive, as it works fine.
She's broken some tiny plastic part. Replace the drive to fix permanently; you won't be able to find a replacement for whatever's broken, even if you could somehow dismantle and re-assemble that mechanical nightmare of plastic and springs.
You might be able to find a replacement drive used somewhere for a reasonable price.
If you don't want to do that then you're stuck with tape. I might try stick-on velcro instead, though.
