Regardless, that HSS POS has to be properly UNINSTALLED, how ever this might be accomplished, HSS needs to be expunged.....

Frankly, a regular nuke 'n' pave is just plain good maintenance.

From my experiences, those N&P days are over and are time consuming and overkill. At least for the general average user.

Lots of other better methods including a good pristine clone as already mentioned.

PS: Notice I said clone, not a TM "backup".

We will have to agree to disagree.....

In my experiencce the 'general average user' is not making clones (pristine or otherwise).

Also in my experience the 'general average user' is exactly the one getting into trouble needing such therapy.

In my experience you will be lucky if 'the general average user' has even a TimeMachine backup.

Please agree me to disagree.

While a nuke-n-pave seems Windows-style overkill, how do you know a good pristine clone is indeed that? It may already bring misery from the past.

When in doubt, please clone, reformat your drive, and clean reinstall.
Create a new user and test drive extensively.

If test driving proves sound, copy the user folder from the clone to your new user folder.
Test drive.
If this proves good to go, so be it.

Add Apps and Add-Ons one by one so as to exclude errors.

Good luck!
