Somethings not correct, as that unit is pretty well setup.

"PC Interface USB 2.0, 10/100 BaseTx Ethernet, Wireless 801.11 b/g"
at least according to:
Specification | MFC-7840W | United States | Brother

I'd say well worth the time and effort to get it setup for all to use, and to use it where and how they like.

Lots of options if one wants and for all to access and use.

Even using handyPrint if it still works for iDevice printing etc. if they have to. It did the last time I used it with my iMac and Mavericks with an old printer to make it fully networked:
Netputing » handyPrint (AirPrint Activator)

But the specs say the Brother model MFC-7840W supports wireless anyway, and I've never known Brother to goof up and they support Macs very well.
