Mac Mail - contacts and multiple devices

I have a couple of problems.

1. Why does my Mac insist on creating emails and putting them in the 'contact's file? - this is an example of what it puts in to the contact file (I have replaced a few of the letters and numbers in the UID section JIC of privacy.

BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
FN:Undisclosed-Recipient@UNKNOWN
N:;;;;
NICKNAME:Undisclosed-Recipient@UNKNOWN
EMAIL;TYPE=internet:Undisclosed-Recipient@UNKNOWN
REV:2013-06-14T02:58:31Z
UID:6f8??9c8-9b6e-11e2-8???-ba08f59e1???:316
END:VCARD

2. I have several devices and know that the files created are for different ones in the mail program - but how do I change it so that all the 'sent' emails for ALL of the devices go into the same file

Thank you

1. Could you provide some more info as to what is actually happening?

2. Are you using POP or IMAP email accounts?

I assume it's POP which doesn't work that way unless you can use some helper app to keep both devices synced for your email account(s). And no, I don't know of one at the minute, and I also mainly use POP email and have it on three devices — Two Macs and an iPad 2.

So - I have 2 imap emails and 2 pop ones.
What seems to be happening is eg - email #1 - is being dealt with on the ipad, but is inthe inbox on two other devices. So I respond with the ipad and delete the email.

When I go to the Macbook Pro - in the mail program, it has created an additional 'sent' and 'folder' and placed the sent copy and deleted copies in the respective additional files. There is already a sent and deleted folder on the macbook - but these do notgo in there.

For starters you will have a separate set of folders for every account you set up in Mail, exactly what they may be varies as to whether or not they are Pop or IMAP, and will vary from one provider to another. When you send a message it goes into the Sent box particular to the account you sent from.

What OSX level are you using?

But only on the Mac or iDevice it was sent from and if a POP account is being used.

I'm not sure I completely understand the OP's problem, but they could do a google search if it would help, like 'mac difference between POP and IMAP':

Something is strange for sure... do you have "BCC yourself" set for any of the accounts? Only way I can think of that you would have a copy in inbox, unless you don't have write access to sent items from that device, or the wrong folder for sent items was selected.
