Hi, I am using iTunes 4.7 and decided to use Poisoned in order to import albums I own on tapes and records (faster and easier than doing the work myself).

However, I am wondering how to arrange the songs so that the order in which the album is presented on iTunes follows the original album order.

I looked in the library and organize dit in the following order: (USER, JF, MUSIC, ITUNES, ITUNES MUSIC, ALBUM NAME X, SONG NAME XYZ).

Usually songs are prefixed with 01 for the first song, 02 for the second, and so on and so forth.

Still, in iTunes, its often mixed. How do I fix this ? Thanks !

I have often wondered the same thing. I really don't think that there is a way to append the track number to the song name. Other than munally typing it in. iTunes could not gain that info from a download unless the song title already had that track number included in the file name. I don't know if that is what you were getting at.

If you mean that you want the songs to appear in order when you view them in iTunes then you would need to put the number before the track name and click on the "song name" button in itunes to organize numerically/alphabetically.

J-F, in the Playlist, if you turn off the 'shuffle' function and click at the top of the first column (with the numbers) you can drag your tunes up and down into the order you want.

Open iTunes Help and type "reorder" in the search field. You will get " Changing the order in which songs play" which will describe this in a bit more detail.

Talking How to correct song order

Go to View Options and insure that you have "Track #" selected.

Then go back to your library and scroll to the right side of the screen. You will see track #'s listed.

Right click on the song and select " Get info". Then select info and type in what order you want the song to be in the track #. ( ie... 1 of 10, 2 of 10, 3 of 10)

It will sort that album based on that info.

what's more...

To add to jazzman's post, the artist and album names have to match exactly for each track. e.g. Artist "X" will be treated differently than "X featuring Y" or "The X" and will be kicked to the bottom of the list no matter what track number. Ditto for Disc Number - a track without those fields filled in will appear in a different order if mixed among tracks with them filled. If your music still doesn't list the way you expect, check for and delete spaces before and after artist or album names.
