Currently I have a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo (with the MX700 rechargable mouse). I want to get the new MX1000 mouse but I don't want 2 mouse chargers/receivers on the desk (the wireless keyboard still needs the old one).

Does anybody know if the MX1000 mouse can use the current receiver?

No - it needs its own receiver. I have numerous wireless Logitech keyboards and mice (review/evaluation units), and none of them are interchangeable with each other in terms of receivers, so I highly doubt the MX1000 will work with a different (other than its own) receiver.
